What is Tandem Skydiving?

A Tandem Skydive is an excellent introduction into the sport of skydiving and is ideal for first-time jumpers, annual enthusiasts, or anyone looking to have a memorable experience.

When you make a Tandem jump with Skydive Oregon, you and your fully licensed Tandem Instructor will share a parachute system designed for two people. Harnessed to your instructor, you will exit the aircraft at an altitude of 14,500 feet (that’s higher than the top of Mt. Hood) and freefall at 120 mph for nearly one minute before opening the parachute.

Following your freefall, you will enjoy a 5-7 minute parachute ride, taking in the spectacular sights of the Willamette Valley and surrounding Cascade Mountains, while descending gently to the landing area.

  12. Driving Directions

  1. Please bring a driver’s license or some form of valid government issued photo ID. Without an ID, you cannot skydive. Acceptable forms of ID: Drivers license, Permit, State ID card, Passport, Tribal ID card. A photo of your ID will also be acceptable if we can see all pertinent information- photo, first and last name, birthdate. If you have any questions, please call us (503)829-3483.
  2. Dress comfortably for the weather. Please wear clothing that is comfortable and weather appropriate for your skydive. We recommend something flexible/athletic, however jeans are perfectly fine. On cooler spring or fall days, we suggest bringing a sweatshirt or jacket and a pair of gloves. We will provide jumpsuits as needed. On warmer summer days, you are welcome to wear shorts and a t-shirt. Please do not wear a tank top on your skydive- it will not be comfortable under the harness and will not be acceptable for hygiene reasons.
  3. Wear sneakers or some kind of snug fitting athletic shoe. No hiking boots, sandals or any type of shoe with open toes, hooks or heels.
  4. Your scheduled reservation time is your check-in time, not your jump time. The first hour or so that you are here, you will be filling out a waiver, getting checked in and going through training with others who are reserved at the same check-in time. After training, we will start organizing skydiving loads

  5. Time: It is a 4-5 hour time commitment (weekends) or a 3-4 hour time commitment (on weekdays). Weather and other factors can affect jump times. Your scheduled reservation time is your check-in time, not your jump time. The first hour or so that you are here, you will be filling out a waiver, getting checked in and going through training with others who are reserved at the same check-in time. After training, we will start organizing skydiving loads, so you may spend some time watching other people skydive prior to your turn. You’re welcome to pack a lunch, or a game to pass the time. Please note that pets and alcohol are not allowed on the airport property.
  6. Spectators are welcome! We have a large picnic area for friends and family to watch you make your skydive. We ask that you please let your spectators know the time frame that you’re committed to, that there are no pets and no alcohol allowed on airport property (including the parking lot) and that children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  7. Weather: All weather decisions are made on the jump day, throughout the day. We cannot jump in the rain or through the clouds, but we do jump on many partly cloudy / partly sunny days. Since the forecast can be unreliable, if the weather looks cloudy or rainy on your scheduled jump day, we suggest calling us shortly before you need to leave your house for your reserved check-in time so that we can give you the most accurate weather information for your reservation. If you live several hours away, please call the day before to check our local forecast and make a plan with our office staff. 503-829-3483 If it’s nice out, there is no reason to call, we just need to see you here at your reserved check-in time.
  8. Reservations are locked in for no changes, cancellations or refunds 7 days prior to your scheduled jump day. If you need to make any changes or cancellations, please let us know at least a week in advance, unless there is a weather issue. If it is not a jumpable day due to the weather, we will offer to reschedule you to a later date of your choice or offer a refund on your deposit. Groups of 6+ on summer weekends get locked in for no cancellations at the time of reservation (unless weather does not permit day of).
  9. Want to add someone to your reservation? You can invite friends to join your reservation up until the day of your skydive (as long as there is still space available at your reserved check in time). If friends want to join your reservation, they can do so by calling us 503-829-3483 or by clicking on the Invite link at the beginning of this email and holding their space with a $50 deposit per person. If the time slot isn’t showing availability online, please call.
  10. Optional Video/Photo Packages are available- we recommend reserving in advance for best availability. We have two video/photo packages available: HandCam Video/Photo package: $100 cash or $105 cc/debit per person. By purchasing this package, your tandem instructor will be taking photos and video clips during your jump. Outside Video/Photo package: $130 cash or $135 cc/debit per person. By purchasing this package, you’re hiring a separate videographer to jump with you and your instructor. With either option, you’ll receive 100-200 photos and 8-10 mins worth of video footage taken before, during and after your skydive. Media is emailed and text messaged to you via a downloadable link within 24 hours of your skydive. Personal Cameras: You and your friends are welcome to have cameras on the ground. For safety reasons per the United States Parachute Association, you are not allowed to wear or take cameras (including cell phones and GoPros) in the airplane or on the skydive until you have a minimum of 200 skydives and a USPA C-License.
  11. Your $50 per person deposit was charged to the card provided at the time of reservation and will be applied toward the total price on the day of your skydive. You can pay the remaining balance due with either cash (to receive the cash discount) or Visa, MasterCard, Discover, a Debit Card or Apple Pay. Please note: We do not keep your credit card information on file to charge again and we DO NOT accept personal checks. Tandem Skydives are $219 cash or $229 cc/debit per person. Group rate is $199 cash or $209 cc/debit per person for groups of six or more people reserved in advance as a group. Deposits will be applied toward the total price on the day of the jump.
